Uniqema has a wide technology base in polymers & coatings. Our customers' technologies cover coatings based on resins such as acrylates and vinylacetates, alkyds, epoxies, polyesters, polyurethanes and also pigment dispersion manufacture. These resins are used in a variety of coating applications a.o. decorative, industrial, marine & protective and automotive.

Uniqema supplies solutions for the ever increasing VOC regulations, upcoming technologies are waterborne, high solids, powder coatings and Radcure technologies.

Coatings that incorporate resins based on PRIPOL™ & PRIPLAST™ dimerized fatty acids and polyester polyols offer the coatings industry a unique combination of benefits such as: hydrolytic / thermo oxidative / UV resistance, improving pigment wetting, flexibility at low temperatures, universal adhesion, water repellency and impact resistance.

Coatings that are based on resins including ATLAS™ G Bisphenol A Alkoxylated building blocks, offer the coating a combination of benefits such as: corrosion, chemical & moisture resistance, flexibility, toughness / hardness, improved adhesion, Tg variation to meet final product need.

Emulsion polymers based on MAXEMUL™ non-migratory surfactant technology allows formulation of coatings with better protective properties. 

Products & technology

Coatings can be formulated with resins that include Uniqema’s unique building blocks or use Uniqema surfactants as emulsifier/ dispersant or other functional additive:
  • PRIPOL C36 dimer acids, PRIPOL dimer diol and PRIPLAST C36 dimer based polyester polyols.
  • ATLAS G Polyol based alkoxylates and Bisphenol A based alkoxylates.
  • PRIFAC™ - a wide range of saturated and unsaturated, linear and branched fatty acids for alkyd & polyester resins offering versatility in formulating and final product properties.
  • PRICERINE™ glycerine in several purity grades for synthesis of alkyd and polyester resins.
  • MAXEMUL™ Non Migratory Surfactants - Innovative new non-migratory surfactants developed for emulsion polymerisation of vinyl acetate and acrylic binders. MAXEMUL demonstrates superiority over conventional surfactants both in latex stability and in the resulting dry film properties. Improved performance properties include superior substrate protection with brilliant finishing.

A wide range of standard and specialty surfactants and additives to solve outstanding problems in waterborne technologies - including:

  • ATLAS™ G, ATSURF™ - high performance emulsifiers for alkyd, polyester and epoxy resin emulsification
  • ATPHOS™, ATPOL™, SYNPERONIC™ emulsifiers for emulsion polymerisation of acrylates and vinylacetates.
  • ZEPHRYM™ dispersing agents for waterborne pigment dispersions providing excellent pigment loading and colour development.
  • PRIFER™ 6813 non VOC, odour free coalescent 
  • HYPERMER™ polymeric water in oil emulsifiers allows formulation of cost effective high solids alkyds via incorporation of water as a dispersed phase without affecting drying or dry film properties.
  • ATLAS G™ and Synperonic™ polymeric surfactants as external emulsifiers for formulating VOC free resin emulsions with minimal negative impact on dry film properties
